It can work with any camera provided that you can connect it.

I wonder if it will work with the Micro G2...?

Might even work with an iPhone.
I got no problem here connecting an iPhone 15 to an external monitor with an USB-C to DP cable. Of course, sufficient power is another question, but a hub with additional power should help.

I was wondering if the new Cine evf would work with the Cinema Camera 6K since the more I look at the Pyxis, the more I think that the CC6K might have a more flexible form factor. Yet, you're right, to hell with these stupid cameras! Load the Blackmagic app on an iphone, add the viewfinder and away you go!

I think it should ... which is an interesting idea.

For my work, the Pyxis as-is though would give me everything I would want. I don't use the camera screen for anything but menu items anyway.

It would be nice to have in-cam ProRes, but not a real "need". And getting that EVF ... I might actually work this cam on my shoulder mount.

I'm with you. When it comes out I'll be renting this and the CC6k. The one thing that bothers me about the Pyxis (besides the mini-xlr) is the size. If it were a little smaller like the Panny BSIH, I could put a handle on the side for hand-holding. Though most of what I do is on a tripod, I've been coming around to the idea of the pocket bodies as possibly better for that. However, I'll need to do some rentals to sort out these sorts of things. I have made my peace with the cost of the EVF and feel like this opens up shoulder mount possibilities so I can live my dream of looking like Robert Forster in Medium Cool.

It's really cool that it can connect to any camera you want. I would have loved this design with the URSA Mini Pro cameras as it fits all that I asked for with regards to an update on the URSA Viewfinder build. I kind of wish the URSA Mini Pro had an ability to make this work, but I don't think it will.

Still I'm pleased enough. Maybe if the PYXIS Pro is more a marriage between the PYXIS and the URSA Mini Pro than we could get this to work.

It can connect to any camera that outputs DisplayPort over USB C and supplies the correct voltage. The only ones I'm aware of that support this functionality are the two/three new ones from Blackmagic.

Good Luck

It was the old EVF that could connect to about any camera when using the mod kit (IIRC, made by Wooden Camera). Unfortunately it is not made any more.

How would one connect this to the 6K FF?

USB-C is the weakest link, these will get damaged and worn out easily. A pretty expensive disaster waiting to happen.

my question would be: is there an adapter that can connect the new cine EVF to SDI from a Blackmagic camera?????? (and adapt the power as well)

Another 3rd party evf. Could this be a trend.

It’s basically just display port.

So anything that supports that will work. Both on camera side and the EVF. Only thing is the EVF buttons won’t work on another camera.
