Camera App: Cannot select focus peaking color

I'm using the latest version of the camera app on an iPhone 15 Pro. I have selected Peaking as the focus assist method. Although the app provides the option to choose a color for focus assist, the focus peaking shows up on the display as white, regardless of what color I choose. Currently I have it set to "Green" but I have tried all the other color options but they have no effect -- the focus peaking always displays as white.

Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? (This feature worked on the previous version of the app.)
