Frame rate - Timeline vs clip

This might sound trivial, however, I’m taking the risk

Let’s say I want to shoot in 30 fps and slow footage down to 24 fps (80%), should I set timeline’s frame rate to 30 or 24?

What I usually do is matching timeline’s frame rate to footage’s original fps, even after slowing down footage by half.

Easiest to set timeline rate to your target rate for playback in Project Settings, 24 fps and then add footage from Media Pool.

Always set your timeline for output.
DR is quite good at conversion, even if slow at highest quality.
For a mild slo-mo, simply change fps in the Clip Attributes, if sound doesn’t matter.

If you slow the footage down by Clip Attributes, there’s no quality loss at all.
If you want to keep the original speed, it depends on the algorithm.
You can’t change speed anyway after editing.

mind my shallow experience. I slow footage down from inspector "Change speed".

So it is better to set project/timeline's fps to footage's fps after speed being changed, right?

For example, on my next project, I'll shoot open gate 30 fps or maybe off-speed 24/36. If the former, I'll slow footage down 20% to become 24 fps. When starting a new project, I set timeline's fps to 24 and then import footage, slow them down if needed.
