I've had my 6k Pro for 2 years now and I have only one complaint. Even set at the highest volume, the headphone output volume is far too low. Is this an issue that can be corrected with a firmware update?

I've not had any problem with the ones I use on my 6kG2, either Bose QC35 (via a lead - also noise cancelling so I can focus on what is actually being recorded) or Shure SE535 in ear phones.
Assuming yours are good quality cans, what sensitivity and impedance are they? They often need a more powerful driving circuit than I suspect is in the camera. Have you considered using a headphone amplifier?

What’s the impedance of your current pair? Switching to a set with lower impedance will produce more volume. Switching from a 250-300ohm set to something in the 32-50ohm range will make a substantial difference in output, lowering the impedance 15-30ohms not so much. So many headphones today are designed with smartphones in mind so the impedance of most modern headphones is already pretty low relatively speaking.
Good Luck
