Recording ProRes via BMVA?

PostThu May 30, 2024 9:24 pm

Hello,

I'm wondering is there a difference between the internal ProRes you get on the Pocket 4K, versus the ProRes you can get using the BM Video Assist when hooked up to a Pocket cam that does not offer internal ProRes (like the 6K full frame for example)?

I mean, can you get the same ProRes settings on both? Or are there differences on one vs the other in terms of the different flavors of ProRes available?

Thanks.

The most important difference is that the HDMI output on all the Pocket cameras and BMCC6K is 1080p only, so you can't record external 4K/UHD. I also think it maxes out at 60fps and 10-bit.

Thanks Roger, good to know, but bummer to hear.

Do you NEED ProRes? I've found that BRAW files are often even smaller than ProRes at the same resolution.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
