BMCC6K EF-L metadata and gyro stabilisation

So I've noticed on my BMCC6k with an Sigma MC-21 EF-L adapter that I cannot enter metadata for lenses without electronic contacts. This results in greatly reduced efficacy on gyro stabilisation (the footage zooms in but honestly it's not doing much besides that, all the micro jutters remain). If I enter the metadata manually in Resolve it doesn't effect the results.
Anyone know of a way to fix this? Is there a way to enter the metadata in the braw or something to that effect so that the stabilisation works properly? Thanks!

Sean, you can enter meta in the camera itself.

Hey Omar,
Thanks for the info. Just to be clear, this post is because with the EF-L adapter that option is not available.

Sean, I just wrapped a 10-hour shoot on the 6KFF (alongside the 12K and 6K Pro) and came across this issue. I was able to force the camera to let me enter the focal length and lens type by tapping on "reset data" and very quickly entering the information. If I wasn't fast enough, the fields would go back to being grayed out.
Unfortunately, this sequence has to be repeated every time you power down the camera as it doesn't save the metadata.
I did test whether doing this would actually produce a better gyro stabilization pass, and it does work as intended (versus not force-entering the metadata).
I suspect it's an issue with the Sigma adapter, but hopefully BMD can help fix that bug.
Best,
Fabián

Hi Sean. I didn't know that, thanks for the clarification. I hope Fabian's workaround helps you. BMD should fix that.

I was wondering if you enter the metadata manually without the lens connected to the camera, will it retain the metadata after you re-mount the lens?

Couldn't you just use a different adapter for those lenses? Or is there something I'm missing here? I use an Urth adapter and can enter the data and stabilize my footage in Resolve with gyro stabilization.

I mean, everything's possible Chris, I'd just like it for the adapter that I already own and paid for, one manufactured by an L-mount alliance member, to work properly.
Thanks for the tip Fabian!

I almost bought that adapter. Glad I didn't!
Isn't the so-called L mount Alliance just saying Leica saying that people can come over to their house but that they may or may not talk to them? Cuz I've read a lot of issues around that mount from the Panasonic crowd. Kind of ridiculous to be playing Twister like Fabian points out. If I close my eyes and click my heels three times and say, gyro will work...
I'm considering getting a used Canon 24-105 and will have to get the Sigma adapter but will make sure to keep this one for my other lenses....

Yeah, it’s still a little baffling that BMD hasn’t implemented some kind of manual override for this. It’s metadata! Surely being able to force focal lengths manually wouldn’t be a problem.
