Where can I download the Apple Log to Rec709 LUT cube?

In the BlackMagic Camera App for iOS, under

Settings › LUTs › LUT Selection

I have a LUT named:

Apple Log to Rec709

I am looking for the same LUT in DaVinci Resolve on the color page but cannot find it.

Is there somewhere I can download the .cube file for this LUT so I can load it into Resolve?

Is it one of the LUTs referenced in this post on the Apple forums?

Ah, looks like the one you linked to costs $25, though...

That link will take you to Apple’s Developer pages. See screen capture below. The download is Apple’s own Rec. 709 LUT. It was released when the iPhone 15 was released. The White Paper on the LUT is only four pages long. I’m a member of the Developer forum, and I suspect that you’ll have to join it to get to that page and the downloads.

However...You say that you already have this LUT in the Blackmagic Camera app. So do I. It probably came with the app. You can export it from Blackmagic Camera > Settings > LUTs > Export LUT. It will go to your phone’s Files app. From there, you can import it to DaVinci Resolve.

You might also look at Stu Maschwitz’s free Rec. 709 LUT:

Log is the “Pro” in iPhone 15 Pro

Mashwitz’s bio is on his About page.

The Apple Developer page your link leads to:

Library>application support>blackmagic design>davinci resolve>LUT folder.

Not sure why both finder and spotlight fail to locate this folder.

Good Luck

Thanks all!

Rob Edge, this did the trick (w one more nested menu):

Blackmagic Camera › Settings › LUTs › LUT Selection › Export LUT

My macOS Sonoma 14.5 operating system doesn’t have a folder called LUT at that location, nor as a subfolder at that location.

The library needs to be accessed from Macintosh HD. The Library in the Go dropdown (option click) is different and doesn't contain the LUT folder.

Macintosh HD>Library>Application Support>Blackmagic Design>Davinci Resolve>LUT folder.

Good Luck

For people who see this thread later, the screen capture below shows the correct path.

Howard, do you know of any reason why LUTs should be installed via the DaVinci Resolve interface rather than directly in that LUT directory?

Can't think of any. It seems to me that back in the day you'd have to update the folder in Resolve if you wanted to import a LUT mid-session. Doesn't seem to be the case today.

The LUT folder can also be accessed in the finder through Resolve.

Good Luck
