Zhiyun Smooth 5S Gimbal

I'm trying to get my Zihyun gimbal fully operational with the BM app. However I cannot get the focus/zoom wheel on the gimbal to interact with the app.
This seems to be a common issue on other sites but I have not found any answers.
I contacted Blackmagic diretly but the had no answer - just directed by to this forum. I hope that someone here has a solution. Please advise.
