I am quite happy about camera. OS, I would like to have it additional optional feature to work better.

1) fixed size chunk : For many reasons, I would like that camera record files with max size xxx and when go over, close file and start newer files. Like old avchd containers
Reasons?
Security, smaller files risk less corruption during copying and managing.
Better support management, most support manage better smaller files then bigger
Cloud backup, many cloud support allow backup with a file size limits

2) ability to see single frame braw
3) ability to lock autofocus touch (sometime I change options or I do double touch to zoom on touch and sometimes move focus also if I not want).
4) ability to record same audio source at different applications, it is not enabled on all input
5) bigger voltage indication of battery

Carlo, regarding your first request re media chunks rather than a single container:

I wouldn’t want to use that feature so I hope if BMD allowed it, it would be optional. It might also increase the amount of clutter on the media like the extra files allowing individual clip delete feature being added. I have ‘small’ audio files on my MixPre-6 II rather than a single audio clip and I’d prefer that method wasn’t a requirement.

Yes, obviously I suggest to have it like option :-)

Me too I not like imposition:-)

If they add this option could seem like a single clip in resolve like when you shoot dual card braw on 12k that are rebuild later from resolve like a single file from dual recording of frames
A simple metadata will tell to resolve that.
Or like when you load cdng and you see a single file and not a long list of single frames.

Except that CDNG is opened as a bunch of stills when opened under the OS. I guess Braw requires a 3rd party app anyway so it doesn’t matter so much but overall it just makes OS level file management trickier. It’s this way with R3D files and I’m not a fan.

Uhm I not understand your comment.
Camera save file01, at end add metadata “continue in file02”. That’s it. Simple
Like dual recording, file of odd frame know that even frame are in file xxx.

All these infos will be decoded by braw sdk, enabled on resolve directly, plugin for premiere, avid, Finalcut, braw player…
Video files should be read from video/NLE software, not from Os, is a bad attitude, especially with structured files like avchd and similar.
Especially today where Os no more allow you to install additional codecs (win and Mac) but with except of h264 and few other you cannot read video file directly in Os.

Why are you mentioned CDNG at all? It never came up in the conversation.

Also CDNG doesn't have to be a series of still images, that's just how BMD decided to implement it in their cameras. The CDNG standard has always allowed for sequences to be contained within a single MXF container, too.

I think this is probably the only feature here that I would find useful personally. It's so strange to me that this wasn't added in 8.6 consider they could easily be filtered into their own section of the Media Pool, away from all the video clips.

However, this makes a lot of sense especially in conjunction with Cloud backup. I don't use Cloud backup and I don't tend to shoot super long clips but for those who do, I think this makes a lot of sense.

Hopefully 9.0 adds your requests and at least some version of my request for additional crops.

Why you have a problem with option that exist from decades in other file formats?

I mean option, not a forced choice.

I don’t know how do you shoot, and you kind of work, but last work done in The weekend I had files of 300gb and 560gb and backup them is not easy.
It could solve a lots of problems today, from corrupted files to support with low cache and more.

Ps I know that I can cut and archive by resolve or plume plugin like braw, but it’s easier to do in recording.

It’s your opinion, not a tech reason…
From years (over 30) exist this kind of correct workflow on avchd and many other video system recording and transmission.
Anyway I ask for additional option, if you not like it, you not enable it.

I can see some utility, but it really is edge case stuff. Surely not worth the dev time.

yes, i know, but today we can do file so bigger and ones of reasons of corrupted files, especially under windows is size of single files.
i usually manage files of shooting of theatrical rappresentation, or medical doc where my files are near 1tb, and ability to segment directly in camera is better, or i need to put in timeline, separate directly, put space in between, edit for a frame and use media managment, but where you have theatrical drama you can't and it's unconfortable ginnic work.

not need a lots of dev time, be cause just exist this function during recording, it's the feature that save chuncks in files when you go out of battery and file is closed and avoid to corrupt file if you leave battery or power from camera.
