Hello everybody,

I am new here. Student from Germany.
We are going to work with the BMCC 2.5K the next month for a short movie.
My Prof. said that the Zeiss Compact Prime Lenses or the Compact Zoom lenses will be too good for the camera, because the lenses are for 4K, so we will get some alias effects on the 2.5K camera.
Have anybody experience in the combination of the BMCC 2.5K and the Prime lenses of Zeiss? It is better to use normal Canon lenses (in our case) or the ZE photo optics?
I am looking forward to your answers. Thank you for your help.

Best Regards,
Piet

as far as i know from zeiss they actually used some things they did not do with the old mk2 series per example. they get a spezial whateveryoucallit to reduce some mirrorings and stuff due to the fact the most digital cams got a glass infront of the sensor itself to mostly secure it etc etc...i dont get the argument of you prof? a lens is to good for a cam? jeez try to avoid this man :D

I've seen the cp.2 on the bmcc and it's waaaay better than using regular lenses. Makes a huge difference. Your professor doesn't know what he's talking about.

Sure, the lenses will resolve a lot-- that means nothing to do with ailiasing which can happen at any lens under the right circumstances. if it's a major issue, throw a diffusion filter in the lens.

Lens too good for the camera?
Lens for 4k?

Never heard anything like that before. Maybe he knows something the majority dont know or maybe he knows s*it.

The lens project the image on a surface, and it has a lot to do with sensor size and almost nothing to do with image size (HD, 2k, 4k...)

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know, the better the lens, the better the image straight out of the camera.

Maybe he was talking about costs? Telling you dont need to go so far?

The lens is the single most import component to getting a great looking image. That and lighting. Then camera.
