Having recently purchased a BMCC and gone the M43/speedbooster route, I was not initially worried. However, I do wonder how this will affect the price/availability of sensors going forward and BMD's commitment to future development of the BMCC.

Until you hear it from Panasonic, don't worry about it.

Even if true, which I doubt because everything I've read said the GH2 and GH3 were very solid sellers for Panasonic, formats come and go. It's not the end of the world.

Let's face it, there is only so much you can push out of a sensor that small. I think the GH4 and BMCC/pocket are getting the maximum out of that tiny pixel size.

I really don't believe this though!

I don't necessarily see this as a problem, seeing that pretty much any full frame lens can be adapted to m43 currently (Nikon F, EF, PL)

It ain't the lens, it's the DoF characteristics still phot folks love. As well as other things, weatherization, autofocus, ect ect. The demands of many photographers are beyond the pale of what a Panasonic can provide.

I put my Pocket Cinema Camera through the same sort of abuse as my Sony Nex-7... makes me wish that they were both truly weatherproof, but at least the Pocket has a cage on it. :)
