Problem with user interface and external USB-C hard drive

Hello,
I have a BM 6k full frame (running on the latest software 8.7, as of now).

I have the following problem(s)
When tapping on any of the options on the top, like the overlay options, fps, shutter, iris, ISO, or WB, none of these options show up on the bottom like they usually would. Tapping the menu icon let me access the menu. I can dial in all these options manually via the menu or by tapping them and then using the wheel, but the quick access right in the recording screen is not possible. I also don't see the audio meters, SD card / USB drive info, or the waveform, nothing shows up at the bottom.

Furthermore, I cannot format external USB-C drives. I am using a range of BM-approved Samsung T9s with their original cables, which work without issues on my other BM cameras. I can record and playback on my faulty camera without any issues, but no formatting.

What I have tried to fix it so far
I updated it to the latest software.
I made a factory reset, both on the device itself and via my computer.
I went into recovery mode by holding the auto-focus button when switching it on.
Sadly nothing worked.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Having access to menu problems also with my 6k pro.

It's only currently updated to 7.9.
I'll go with all current updates on Monday when I have access to my 2021 MAC PRO tower (SONOMA OS).

But still -- why menu access problems?

I just updated to current ( oct 14 2024) 6k pro software on my camera...and for at least 1 full day I had no PROBLEMS WITH OPERATING menu ACCESS...then...today (Oct 14) it started up again: I CANNOT access and correctly use the menu.

Same MENU problem with my 6K pro SUPER 35. Can NOT use the menu.
Can only switch between MENU screen and camera screen.
Can NOT adjust ANY menu buttons.
Reset to factory settings -- might've done this wrong.
Reset to 7.9 software version from there.
I will go back again to original batteries and get off the battery block.
Camera is relatively new (less than 2 years old) hardly used; but after warranty now.

Any advice? Thanks.

8.7 is Beta software.
