Hi.

I had a shooting yesterday, using my VA 4K as a backup-recorder on my FX6. Bot connected via SDI. I use this setup for years and never had a problem. When transfering the clips into Premiere Pro, only
half of the clips were fine. The other half was rejected by Premiere Pro, stating, that they have a not supported compression type. All files were recorded in ProResHQ. I checked the files in the VA and the corrupt once were not recognized. I couldn´t play them back. However, I can see them on my computer on the SD-card. What make it even stranger is the fact, that all corrupted files have the same size: 77.728 kb.

The only new thing in my setup is a bigger SD-card. A Sandisk Extreme Pro SDXC2 V60 256GB. I formated it in the Video Assist and there were no errors. However, the fact that the recordings went wrong after a certain ammount of files, may point to the SD-card. The card I used before was the same type, but an older model with 128GB.

Does anyone have an idea what happend or experienced the same issue?

V60 seems very slow, I assume it's not on BMDs list of recommended cards for your Video Assist model.

Also, make sure to buy from a reputable source. The used market is plagued by counterfeit SD cards that are reprogrammed to seem larger than they are. Those cards don't work at all once you store something past the true storage space. A good way to test for that is to fill up the card and check that everything can be read back.

It has the same speed as the card I used for the last years without any problems. And I only record HD-material. If the card is to slow, shouldn't there be a problem with the files right from the beginning and not starting with clip number 45?

Same speed on paper not mean same performance. May be the card reduce its speed after it was filled a bit, many support do that bad attitude.
Test of supports should be done with right picture that saturate bandwidth and from the start to the end of support space, many times to be sure that support give you a good performance every time

I filled the card and performed the Blackmagic Speed Test. No problem up to 4k-material. So I still don't think it is a speed issue. Specially because all the faulty files have the same size. Unfortunately I didn't get any response from the Blackmagic-Support. Maybe because it is an old model (2018). Untill I get a feedback from them I will just stick to the cards I used for the last few years and see, whether it happens again.

I have a few of the first gen SanDisk Extreme SD cards that I bought for use with the original Pocket. They also work fine in the P4K (with reasonable settings).

But I'm told the newer, faster SD cards don't work as well.

Thats really helpfull. I switched back to the old cards and will see what happens on the next shooting.
If everything is fine, it should be the new card.
