Likelyhood of being fake is very, very high. http://www.bmcuser.com/showthread.php?7 ... k-NAB-2014

Please let it be a huge improvement over the 4K. I'd like HFR, 3D capabilities, and 14-15 stops of dynamic range.

Are you sure the website didn't misspeak/type and meant to talk about this Eclipse: http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/multibridge/ maybe?

We dont need a new Eclipse camera. Ours are already Eclipse cameras. The sun is covered with a black dot!!! :D

Except the pocket. Their sun doesnt have the moon in front of it, so they are not Eclipse cameras.

Is this camera the reason for the non-existence of long-awaited updates? Maybe BMD wanted to "harmonize" the software for all existing cameras, including the new one.

As a BMCC or BMPC owner, I would be very upset if there was no firmware update to come at NAB.

A new firmware has been uploaded to BM's server: Blackmagic Camera Utility Windows 1.7
But apparently the only update is support for the Studio Camera. Nothing for previous cameras.
So yeah...

from where did you get this, i couldn't find it on their website, also it doesn't make sense to release a support firmware for a camera that they just want to show at NAB, probably before the shipping date with few days, but why now?

I read about it on bmcuser so I tried it myself. If you check the link I provided you'll see that it's hosted on their own server.
I went to download the firmware the regular way, only saw 1.6.2 but then copied the URL and changed 1.6.2 to 1.7 and there it was.

EDIT: I also tried changing it to 1.7.1 and 1.7.2 but there were no such files.

Maybe not the sexiest looking thing.

Also, according to the manual it only seems to do 1920x1080 but it goes up to 60p.

haha this new camera is so weird.... i can see how it's cool as a studio cam... kind of... I'm assuming (hoping) that the alleged 4k camera they have is NOT this one....

If it lacks remote zoom and focus on the lens, then it misses something very important.

I wonder which camera's sensor this thing inherited, if any? Given the Dynamic Range, one could assume it's the 2.5K sensor, or the Pocket Sensor-- and if so, then it may mean the new firmware, if real, addresses issues therein?

Also apparently loads LUTS-- though not currently implemented.

It does have the 13 stop dynamic range, so it seams to be from the same family of the Original BMCC/BMPCC

1080p60
13 stops of dynamic range
2 XLR
Autofocus
Huge back screen

looking nice so far.
I wonder which new "flaws" will the camera introduce...

It seems like what the Production Camera was meant to be this whole time. I guess that a Fuji with Digital Servo Focus will do the trick.

Well, I couldnt find any "read me" file containing the firmware changes. Where did you find there were no changes?
