Atomos Shinobi II - why can't I update firmware?

Greetings. Frustrated as I know I'm probably doing something wrong, but following directions from the Atomos site, I download the zip, extract and dump the .bin files (there are 3) to an empty SD card, put the SD into the Shinobi II, power it on and as the directions state, the logo will appear (it does) then after a few seconds the download will begin. (it doesn't).

I have to assume it's not liking my card? (Lexar 128g) Or I'm not putting the .bin files in a proper folder although it doesn't say to do that.

I'm at a loss. Any thoughts?

My apologies. I followed another Shinobi thread that was in this forum. I'll repost. Thanks for the link.

Hi, I just went through the same thing.

Still following the directions on the Atomos website - I found the SD card to be the problem. I used the Lexar too but it didn't work. The only one that would work was a 16gb Sandisk (80mbs) card that I formatted to MS-DOS (FAT32).

After transferring the files directly onto the formatted SD card, place in monitor, then turn on and let it update. After it's finished, turn off, remove card, turn on again and check the version in info tab to make sure it's updated.

Hope it works for you!
