BP-U connector issues?

PostMon Oct 14, 2024 5:19 pm

Had my new pyxis shutdown at random percentages on my vmount. Contacted the vmount adapter manufacturer and they sent me this.

Is this BS or what? My camera works well with BP-U batteries.

Lol, like almost too easy eh?

Are you getting percentages or voltage reading via the Vlock?

The adapter gives no percentage. The vmount does and when it was at 50% my pyxis said it was empty. My pyxis reades the vmount voltages all the same. It's only the percentage that is way off. Using a lemo 2 cable gives me the entire vmount power being used.

Tried to find out more about IndiPro. Looks like they are just selling rebranded stuff. Their tripods look exactly like the CamGear tripods (who are the actual manufacturers).
So very likely the support you contacted has no idea what they are talking about as they don’t produce those battery plates, or batteries and have no electronics expertise.

Just have a look at the reviews on Amazon for example here:

https://www.amazon.com/-/de/dp/B078YB36YX/

Also those battery plates without any voltage conversion are no rocket science. It’s just some wires and contacts. Very likely the manufacturing wasn’t either not precise enough and leaves too much play, or the wiring is loose or incomplete or the soldering bad.
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

We have not received any communication from them so I'm not sure why their stuff is not working. If you're not getting percentages, then their adapter is probably (I'm guessing here) not passing the required information so we're relying on only voltage levels to determine when to cut off. Do you recall what the voltage level is shown in the PYXIS screen's UI when the battery's own display is showing the 50% level?

It varied but it was from 15-40%. I just returned it to B&H and got a tilta v-mount plate.
