Hey all, just got my PYXIS 6k and one of the reasons I was eager to pick it up was the proxy workflow via iPhone. I have tried everything but I can not get the camera to recognize that the iPhone is plugged in.

Running iOS 18.1 on an iPhone 16 Pro Max
T-Mobile is my carrier
Tried several USB C cables. Tried power cycling the camera and phone. Trying different boot up sequences where I have the phone connected before camera powers up and vice versa.

No luck. I have read the manuals and it says

"Connect an Ethernet to USB-C adapter or your smartphone to your Blackmagic PYXIS 6K’s USB-C port. When connecting using your smartphone, enable your phone’s tethering or hotspot feature. Once connected to the Internet, the Blackmagic Cloud icon at the top of your camera’s touchscreen will turn blue.

The first step to setting up your smartphone for internet streaming is to make sure it has hotspot activated.
1 On your iOS device open settings>personal hotspot and make sure the ‘allow others to join’ option is on.
2 You will see a message appear asking whether to trust the connected computer. Select ‘trust’ and a green tethering icon will be visible on the screen. This is how you can verify the connection is working.
The tethering icon will appear when enabled
Your smartphone’s clock will always appear within a green background icon while tethering is enabled.
For Android devices, swipe the screen to display the quick menu. Press and hold the hotspot icon and then turn on USB tethering."

I am not getting the Trust this computer prompt or anything. Any help would be appreciated. Ethernet is not as useful when in remote locations.

Same issue here with an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The iPhone sees the Pyxis as a network adapter (visible in the settings).


I have no issue with the same iPhone and same usb-c cable with my Pocket 6K Pro.

Any ideas anybody ?

Having the same problem. Does anyone have a fix yet?

I think we have seen an issue with the "Pro" models of the newer iPhones. A fix for this is in the works.

I tried again after updating to the new firmware - still the same problem. My iPhone 15 pro sees the PYXIS as if it's a network PROVIDER and not a tethered USER of the internet connection the phone already has through WLAN or 5G. That's why the settings under Ethernet appear the wrong way around!

Hope there's a fix for this soon.

Hi, trying to understand this.

It will only work over a mobile network. Unfortunately, iOS won't allow you to tether while the phone is connected to Wi-Fi.

You are using the rear USB-C connection on PYXIS right?

I switched off the WiFi on my iPhone15Pro and checked that it was connected to the 5G network. Then I switched on the personal hotspot and accepted that it would work using Bluetooth and USB. I connected the already powered-up Pyxis 6K and I got the pop-up asking to trust this connection!

Thanks for the tip that WiFi wouldn't work.
