Pyxis using a Focus Demand and a USB-C drive simultaneously

I am using a BMD Focus Demand on a Pyxis L and it works well. The Focus Demand has a pass through 2nd USB connection (for use when using the Zoom Demand).

When plugging in a USB-C Samsung T7 Shield drive into the Pyxis USB-C port it recognizes the drive and records,

When plugging it in through the loop pass through on the Focus Demand it also sees the drive, but stops recording immediately as if the combined Focus Demand and USBC drive are too much power draw to power both.

I am stuck having to choose between using the drive to record OR using the Focus Demand (which provides excellent manual focus without touching the camera lens, all from the tripod. With only one USB port on the Pyxis, I cannot use both.

Is there any external device, USB splitter or other tool which will allow me to use both the Focus Demand and the USB-C drive simultaneously from the Pyxis' single USB port?

This is not an answer to your question, but I have Pyxis L and am trying to get the Zoom and Focus demands working. I am curious about what lens you are using?
