Shooting HD: Downsample in camera vs in post

PostSat Nov 16, 2024 10:34 pm

Hello,

Maybe some of you had experience or have opinions on the visual differences between these two methods (I am using BMPCC 6K pro)

1. Shooting ProRes HQ in HD size
2. Shooting 6k BRAW and then edit on HD timeline with downsampling provided by Resolve.

I am more interested in the subjective visual differences. How does Resolve downsampling compare to cameras internal downsampling? If anyone have some test footage I would be super grateful, because sadly I will be renting the camera and won't be able to do any testing myself.
I will just do some light amature coloring on the final result. The scenes I will shoot will be quite poorly lit.

Thank you very much,
Donatas
