EL Zone Feature Request

We all want standardization across the board. Standardized false color would be great in camera and on Resolve. EL Zone is a paid add on for the Atomos monitors. I know there's bad blood between Atomos and BMDesign so why not offer more of the features that Atomos has in their products? Atomos didn't get an exclusive deal with Ed Lachman because it's in SmallHD as well.
So, has BMdesign reached out to Ed Lachman yet? I'm sure everyone who owns a Blackmagic camera would pay $50 or whatever to add EL Zone to their camera natively.
Just a thought.
And please do NOT gatekeep this feature to some new camera. We want it available in all cameras.

There is a long feature request discussion about this already - have a look here:

That's true but it was from 2023. I'm a bit impatient haha.

This may not be Blackmagic's fault, if they wanted to add it. I know there are several other companies would would like to bring this feature into their products however Ed Lackman and/or his company is holding up the licensing. I don't know the details, if it's pricing, royalties, or previous agreements with other companies. I know this has been going on for at least the last year.

The consumer perpetually suffers at the negotiation table. That's unfortunate that it is taking so long.

I'm a long time stills pro prior to coming into pro video.
I wouldn't pay a dime extra for EL. False color does well enough. And a meter in an experienced hand controls contrast easily.
If they want to include it, I've got no problem. But not interested in paying extra.

If one really wants EL Zones they can make a LUT to do just that. All BMD cameras have ability to use LUTs.

You will need a license if it is distributed as a patent exists - even for a LUT. You can make a DCTL by yourself - for Panasonic V-Log for example Panasonic publishes a STOPS vs 10-bit RGB profile (others Camera Manufacturers also publish their Log specifications) - but you should not distribute a finished DCTL because of infringement.
You could also use the results of dynamic range measurements performed by Xyla Charts. Or do your own STOPS measurements by recording a gray card with your camera.

That's useful but is out of date. Do they have a newer one? I need to with LogC4, BMD Film Gen 5, and DaVinci Wide Gamut.
