PYXIS - Issue with fluctuating headphone volume

Hello!

We're currently testing out the Pyxis as a potential addition to our company,
and we've experienced some pretty severe issues with fluctuating headphone levels that makes it a no-go as a main camera.

Whenever there's a sudden loud sound, the headphone audio drops out completely for a moment, before it ramps back up again. This is also tied to the monitor out-volume, and not the actual input levels.

This makes it a hassle, where - in our case - recording an interview in a crowded place with a handheld microphone is impossible because you can't turn the headphone volume high enough without losing the audio constantly.

This also happens with every headphone and earbuds that we've tested.

Are there anyone else here experiencing the same issues, and is there potentially a fix for this?
We love the images, but right now it's acting as a B-cam to our Pocket 6K because of these issues...

Hi,

What headphones are you using?

Classicly you would use an AGC curcuit and fix it somewhat in post. (AGC=Automatic Gain Control, comes with some cameras, notably cheap DSLRs)

A better solution is to adjust gain in post. To do THAT you will want 32 bit float recording which comes in some of the higher end mixers.

Sorry but this kind of problem is why you need a sound guy.
