Frame Drop Issue While Shooting on iPhone 16 Pro Max

When shooting 4K at 60fps in H.265 format with AppleLog-HDR on my iPhone 16 Pro Max, I experience severe frame drops, making it impossible to record properly, even when saving directly to the internal storage.

I purchased the iPhone 16 Pro Max in early December, and it’s still quite new with only 20% of the internal storage used. To enhance my filming, I’ve also invested in VND, CPL, and Black Mist filters, but due to this issue with the Blackmagic Camera app, I haven’t been able to use them at all.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?
If you’ve found a solution to this issue, I would greatly appreciate any advice.

Is there a way to check for frame drops in the apple's app?

MediaInfo (free) is your friend. It will indirectly tell about it by indicating how far below the desired frame rate your recording went. Unfortunately, it will not show where.

I have the exact same problem: iPhone 16 Pro Max with 1TB. H.265, High (36Mbps) bit rate, Rec 709. 4K at 60fps will cause the exclamation mark warning. I've tested the iPhone 12 Pro Max, 13 Pro Max and 15 Pro Max and none of them have this problem with the same settings.

Reducing the frame rate to 30fps fixes the problem but I want to shoot at 60. Anyone have any ideas?
