OK URSA...now where is the viewfinder??

PostThu Apr 17, 2014 7:09 pm

Great with the URSA!..Congrats...It looks like a shoulder cam....would be great for a shoulder cam...but where is the viewfinder???....Nice 10 inch monitor...but the producer or director is going to be looking at one sitting down on the floor or on a stand anyway. Can't walk around with it. Is too close to the eyes when ya shoulder it. Need to shoot with one eye and look around with the other. I can always add a big LCD screen if needed.......Soooooooo close Blackmagic! sooooooo close!

Why do people think this is a "shoulder cam"? I don't see it as any more a shoulder cam than a RED One was. Dolly, slider, remote head, sticks, steadicam, sure. Shoulder cam? No. That's the LAST place I'd want to put one of these.

You can shoulder mount it (although I would have to commend you for some serious muscle as it is a heavy camera, 16.5lbs on the specsheet).

The Viewfinder (much like how it works on a RED) is something you'll be able to hook up as a separate peripheral rather than an integrated part of the camera.

Some people buy 7" - 10" monitors to put on their cameras that come with an EVF, now folks can buy an EVF for a camera that comes with a 10" monitor. I like the Alphatron.

Yep, if _3_ built-in monitors aren't enough, just add a 4th or a 5th! Makes perfect sense to me (not)!

BetaCam ENG cameras do not have a built-in viewfinder. They are all options, with several models,to choose from. While they may have Sony or Panasonic name on them, they are made elsewhere, but choice was limited to viewfinders made for a specific series of cameras. Most were monochrome tube EVFs with focus peaking and camera info added to display.
