Sigma 20-40mm f2.8 iris issue with P6K - SOLVED!

PostMon Jan 20, 2025 3:13 pm

I recently picked up a Sigma 20-40mm f2.8 EF mount lens. It works perfectly with my PYXIS EF and my Sony FX3 (via a Metabones E to EF adaptor).

However, my OG Pocket 6K doesn't recognise the iris, it's as if I am using a manual lens. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can try to get the camera to see the lens?

I understand its an old lens, I just think it's strange that it works with the PYXIS but not the older P6K.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hello .. Working with the Pyxis and not the 6 K . Yes , strange .. but we are used to all kinds of problems .. not unusual .. sometimes the lens firmware and the camera firmware ... do not want to work together ..

The Firmware of many Sigma lenses can be updated .. For that , you need their " USB DOCK " .. not very expensive .. but be careful , a version exists for the Canon EF mount and another version exists for the Nikon mount ..

No warranty of course , but , at least , it would be nice to have the latest firmware on your lens ..

Also note that , for those who practice Still Photography , with a Sigma application and the Dock , it's possible to accurately adjust the auto-focus of those lenses .. if needed ..

Hope this helps , Good Luck

Mike ..

Thanks for your suggestions :-)

So I checked for a firmware update for the P6K today and there was one. Update installed - lens iris now fully working :-)

Thank you Blackmagic :-)
