PostThu Jan 30, 2025 8:02 pm

Hey, guys, could you help me please?
I look for a solution to have Continuous Autofocus for BMPCC4k + Sigma 18-35
There is DJI Lidar stuff, AxonCine AXC BM3DF.
May be there are something extra options existing on a market?
What solution does the job?
I do travelling videos and wan to stand off manual focus limitations.
Any help is highly appreciated.

the Dji Focus Pro is certainly a good solution. However, you would probably need a printed cogwheel ring, and check if this lens will have reproducible focus control with that system.

It poses the question if a different camera (photo camera with 10bit 422 video) with internal autofocus would be a better solution.

I doubt it'll be able to do what most current hybrids from Sony et. al. can do regarding AF.

yes, modern hybrid cameras have exceptional good autofocus. The only advantage of the Focus Pro is that it works better in dark environments.

In Panasonic cameras (and possibly other brands too) the Focus Pro, and the older Lidar system from Dji, work also without the Lidar camera when an autofocus Lumix lens is used. Again, other lens brands may work too, but possibly it applies only to Lumix lenses. Panasonic and Dji made an agreement of cooperation some time ago.
