Feature Request: Timecode Sync via bluetooth app

PostMon Feb 03, 2025 1:35 am

Hello, just a suggestion for a wonderful feature that could be added.

Timecode sync via bluetooth for multiple Blackmagic cameras.

Thats all.

I would LOVE that! :)

Would be an outstanding way to keep sync across restarts without taking up the audio input, which is needed for...AUDIO! ;)
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I wish this would work. However, most cameras do not have a great internal clock for keeping that sync frame accurate. Even on the high end Alexa cameras this is a problem. Thus the need for a Timecode box connected to camera.

I'm currently using Deity TC-1 for this. It works great. However, I will not that using a Timecode Slate is necessary to ensure that timecode accuracy is consistent across cameras.

I have noted that there's a 1 frame difference between the UMPG2 and P6KPro. On set the P6KPro will show that it is accurately in sync with the Slate when you play back footage on set and compare timecode in camera versus the slate on screen. However, when I get the P6KPro footage into the computer it is always one frame ahead. So I have to import it with a Timecode Offset of -1 Frame.

The UMPG2 always stays accurate it seems. But I still refer to the slate on screen before input in case there is any offset that needs to happen. Thus a timecode slate is extremely necessary to double check timecode for any offsets.
