Help with Video assist and Olympus Camera

PostThu Feb 13, 2025 3:05 pm

First of all, I would like to point out that this is a translation from Google Translator. :)
I have a BM Pocket 4k that I love and use a lot. To record small events alone.
Now I need to occasionally add a second camera to record.
Since I have to do it myself and the pocket does not have autofocus, I occasionally use an Olympus m1x.
Until recently I acquired an external monitor from feelworld that I used for both the pocket and the Olympus, each with its HDMI to HDMI and HDMI to Micro HDMI (Olympus) cable.
This monitor broke down recently and since my current budget does not allow me to buy a new Video Assist, I acquired the VA5" 3g second hand from an acquaintance who I know works correctly and is well maintained. It is the old version with the Mini USB. Firmware version 2.5.1
When I connect it to the pocket everything works fine.

But when I connect to the Olympus camera, either an m10 mark 3 or the m1x, both give me a connection error.

I was shocked and thought it must be a Micro HDMI cable error.
So I changed to another 4k 60FPS that I bought specifically to connect them to the Atem Mini to do an online conference.
Same error. No connection.
I'm still surprised.
I connect the cable to the ATEM to see if the cable or the camera connector is damaged and no problems. The ATEM receives the video and audio signal from the camera via HDMI without problems.
I connect the m1x and repeat the operation, also without problems on the ATEM.
Strange thing number 2. I connect both cameras to my computer monitor via HDMI and the m10 plays and sees the signal on the monitor but the m1x gives me a connection error. :S

I keep trying.
I check the output options of the Em10III and it is at 1080, it does not allow me to change to 50 or 60 refresh rate.
I check the M1X and in the HDMI menu it allows me to output the signal via HDMI up to 4k, but even so I output it at 1080 which is what the VA records.
It allows me to put in the option: Output frame; PRI 50p or 60p but in both cases it gives me the same error.
I have tried putting the output in Recording mode (clean signal) and monitor mode (signal with information) and nothing at all.

Does anyone have any idea what could be happening to me?
I would like to be able to use this monitor with the Olympus to record some things with autofocus but this thing that is happening is very strange to me.

The strange thing is that I have connected either of the two Olympus cameras using the cable or cables to the ATEM and from the ATEM I have taken the HDMI to the VA monitor and everything looks fine.

It is as if there was a communication failure between the VA and the cameras.

Make sure the camera is not set to output a higher resolution than the VA can accept. Looks like that camera can probably output UltraHD (like my em-1 mk II can) while the VA only accepts 1080p input.

Gracias por responder.
He probado configurándola incluso a 480 o 720 pero nada.
