PYXIS Sale for 2,495 Until Feb 20

PostMon Feb 17, 2025 2:59 pm

This is interesting. Only the L and EF Versions of the PYXIS have had a sale price reduction on B&H:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... a_box.html
Both are available for $2,495 until February 20th, 2025.

I'm curious what prompted this and if it means a newer PYXIS Pro is indeed on the way.

That’s such a short period for the price reduction that I suspect it’s just designed to entice those who intend to buy Pyxis with a decent financial nudge to motivate those purchasers now.

Possibly. And, could just be a "President's Day Sale"

If only the PL version was on sale as well. I'd probably have pulled the trigger. But my priority is to save for the UC12K package. After all, that's the camera that fits more in my desires and wants.

Yes I received their President’s Sale email 15 minutes ago. So can’t read the tea leaves based on that short sale.

I think you’ll follow your plan re Cine 12K LF Body.

Yeah, I got the email also. Just emailed out the Google Drive link to the ProRes Master for a short film I just color graded that I shot on my URSA Mini Pro G2. Nothing special short film wise, but I do like how I lit it.

Yeah, the 12K is the plan. But first this week need to make moves and do paperwork for acquiring the minivan. I'm also looking at possible post-NAB timeframe for purchasing the 12K. Maybe at that time they introduce an URSA Cine Mini 12K and that's what I'd buy. Otherwise, normal UC12K.

I'm done with native ISO 400 which is okay for entry level Pocket cameras therefore not tempted by the Pyxis unless it has a sensor with native ISO 800. When you have boxed body you no longer entry level.

Wow! if there is a Pro version in the pipeline, I wonder how long until they start treating it like the Pockets & CC6K FF with no positive firmware updates.

I got a used Pyxis last year (open box) for the same price.
I think the used market will be $2250-$2500 for a body.

I really wonder if BMD has something else up its sleeve for NAB this year.
