Can Pyxis Record ProRes over SDI?

Can Pyxis Record ProRes over SDI? I want to go straight from filming to editing in Final Cut Pro.

Please Blackmagic, for the love of god, give us ProRes in next firmware!!! I am not a fan of BRAW. I know that a lot of people love it, but I don't. To my eye, it renders a plastic looking image and the motion cadence appears a little off.

I've owned practically all BMD cameras, including OG Pocket and OG Ursa 4.6K. I was one of the first to buy the Pocket 4K and was in love with the CNDG image. I'll never forget being dissapointed when I upgraded to the BRAW firmware that killed CNDG. To my eye, it completely changed the organic look of the Pocket 4K image. For the most part, I've recorded ProRes in previous BMD cameras since, because I prefer the workflow and also just prefer the look. ProRes looks more organic to my eye. This is my personal taste, and I know many people agree that BRAW looks plastic, and many will attack me. Can BMD cut a deal with Nikon to get true RAW in a new flavor of BRAW? According to Grant Petty, we all know that BRAW partially demosaics the sensor data before compressing. I think this step is what makes the plastic looking image. I want true RAW, however about ProRes RAW? Cheers.

Do you have any video footage showing this difference in 'motion cadence'? Maybe of the 'mojo', or the 'buttery tones'.

Have you looked at "BRAW toolbox" to directly import BRAW into Final Cut? Not a perfect solution, but if you aren't using things like Gyro stabilization in Resolve, you might be fine with a direct import into Final Cut. Personally, I started using Resolve when I got the Pyxis, and now I am using it instead of Final Cut for everything. I watched a few videos online and I was hooked on Resolve and now appreciate the fact that there are tabs for each step in the editing workflow vs essentially a single screen for everything in Final Cut.

Will, I shoot the original UM4.6K and the BMPCC4K together on every shoot now. The UM4.6K is my A camera because I do like the CinemaDNG uncompressed image. Of course the B camera BMPCC4K has a lot more features and is also a great camera. I’m hoping to add the Pyxis in another year or so due to other financial priorities. I’ve shot ProRes but prefer the ease of handling of BRAW.

The BMVA12G7 can take SDI and save ProRes 422 HQ so that might be an option on the Pyxis.

If you can, video assist 12g could give you a backup and a ProRes :-)

i remember them stating that they use the same debayering algorithm for prores as they do for braw on the pocket 4k in some old press release. Do you see a huge visual difference between braw and prores (which you claim to hugely prefer)?
