Looking For The Best Lens For Filming SHORT FILM

PostFri Mar 07, 2025 6:27 am

Hi there. My name is Lukas. I've recently written a short film about WWI and would like to start working towards getting filming planned out. So I need well planned out ideas for filming done before shooting.

What would be the best lens for my Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K to film and have it look like the film 1917? I absolutely love how that film is shot and I understand that the difference between the camera's I use and the one's they use are very different, but I want something that looks the closest it can to that film.

I intend on finding actors at my college through various sources and plan to seek all other means for finishing the film within the next few months. I am an amatuer filmmaker, so any advice would be helpful!
If there's anything y'all can provide even your favorite lenses, I would appreciate the advice!

I also understand that 1917 is an Oscar winning film with some of the greatest color grading and cinematography teams in the world, but I think making something great is achievable no matter the budget.

Regards,
Lukas
