Blackmagic Camera App Android on Samsung S25 Ultra

PostThu Mar 20, 2025 10:00 pm

I'm testing the latest Blackmagic camera on a Samsung S25 Ultra for an upcoming shoot that wants to use this phone for the main camera. Has anyone else tried this with the BM Camera app? I have a couple bugs I'm seeing. First, is white balance. If you open the app and try to dial in a manual white balance, the overall color is desaturated and almost sepia toned. If I select auto white balance, there is a noticeable color shift and saturation levels now match the native camera app. If I then try to manually adjust color temp, I get wildly aggressive color changes that seem inaccurate. For one, I am never able to get a neutral white balance. Current lighting is 2700K, changing the WB to the min of 2500K still is extremely orange, tapping the auto white balance then makes it neutral. Second is timecode, often when selecting TOD, it will remain in record run. Rebooting the app usually fixes it. Last, not a bug but a feature request. The Samsung S25 Ultra can shoot 10 Bit Samsung Log, would love that support in BM Cam app. Thanks.

I have those same issues on my S24 FE. The problems also occur when you zoom as well.

When you turn on the LUT, does the screen go black?

Hi Shaheed,

I do not have those issues when zooming and for LUT, I do not have the black screen issue, looks like the LUT is working as it should.
