Nikon Z Mount BMD Camera Please!

PostSat May 03, 2025 1:47 am

I own 3 BMD cameras (original BMPCC, 4KBMPCC, and BMMCC) and 2 nikon cameras (D90 and Z6) and tons of Nikon F glass with new investments in native Z mount lenses. These Z mount lenses rock for video autofocus on the Z body cameras. I know Nikon bought Red and now have a native Z mount cinema camera. I am hoping BMD will release a Z mount camera as I would instantly purchase another BMD camera if this is offered, especially with autofocus features on the horizon. Please, please, please make a shortest flange mount camera (Nikon Z mount) version available on the 6k pocket or Pyxis line.

I love BRAW and would absolutely buy a Video Assist 12G for my next Nikon camera purchase (Z6III or Z8) if I knew a BMD cinema camera with a native Z mount was on the horizon. I have native Nikon Z glass now and it will definitely be a huge factor in my next cinema camera purchase.

You should ask to nikon, not to Blackmagic Design
Camera mount are patent covered and it’s not easy not to be added without deeply research about its communication and electronics.
Ask to nikon to release it like open standard and may you can see more F mount cameras in future.
Blackmagic Design adopt L mount for their new cameras be cause it is from an open consortium standard, full documented.
