Project setting for Anamorphic

PostSat May 03, 2025 8:31 pm

So sorry for the cross post (also in Resolve, no answers)..

I have a Sirui 35mm x1.6 Anamorphic lens (Saturn) if I shoot in 6k open gate what will be the correct project settings (resolution wise) in Resolve to retain 6k?

Is there an easy formula for working project settings out?

Sirui has a 2x solution for their Venus 1.6x anamorphic lenses:

In the absence of a 1.6x pixel adjustment on the Media page Clip Attributes, you can just leave the setting at “square pixels” but on the Edit page / Inspector / Transform:

- unlink the X axis and Y axis
- set the Y axis at 0.625x.

That will retain the same 6K horizontal resolution and reduce the vertical resolution accordingly. You should also alter your Project Settings for the Timeline to the corresponding height.
