Atomos Ninja Inferno and BMPCC 4K

PostMon May 05, 2025 12:54 am

Hey all, I have been looking for a new field monitor for the BMPCC 4K and someone is selling a Atomos Ninja Inferno For $600 (CAD). From what I understand the recording feature is not necessary for this camera, but for the price it has a ton of features that are super useful. Is it overkill to get this monitor for the BMPCC 4K if I’m not using the recording function? I mean for $600 there are other options, but are they lesser options. I guess I’m asking if using the Ninja Inferno strictly to monitor/focus/use LUTs etc is worth it for $600 or if I should go a couple hundred dollars cheaper, for something like the Neewer F700 for my use? Suggestions? Experience?

Thanks!

a more affordable solution with more brightness, and a monitor cage, might be a better solution.

I have a Feelworld monitor with 3000 nits, and a monitor cage with sun hood. The cage with its many attachment points renders the plastic housing of the monitor into something robust and versatile, and the sun hood has the advantage that one can operate the monitor at lower brightness. Which results in less heat production and longer battery life.
