Approved Media for Pyxis 12k

PostFri May 23, 2025 11:34 am

Hey guys,

We're still in the return window for our Lexar 4TB Professional GOLD CFexpress 4.0 Type B Memory Cards, so I'm just wondering if there is any word on when the approved media will be updated for Pyxis 12k?

Thanks in advance!

Approved cards for URSA Cine:
Lexar Professional Gold Series | CFexpress 2.0 Type B 128GB
Lexar Professional Gold Series | CFexpress 2.0 Type B 256GB
Lexar Professional Diamond Series VPG-400 | CFexpress 2.0 Type B 128GB
Lexar Professional Diamond Series VPG-400 | CFexpress 2.0 Type B 256GB
Lexar Professional Diamond Series VPG-400 | CFexpress 2.0 Type B 512GB

The above cards are likely to be approved for the Pyxis 12K but I can’t guarantee that. It’s appears that the cards you have may not have been tested yet. When the Pyxis 12K availability has been announced, we shall see the approved list. According to some vendors, the camera is anticipated as early as June, but BMD hasn’t commented. All a bit frustrating for those who have projects for which they hope to use the Pyxis 12K, but the reality is until we hear from BMD, everything is uncertain.

The anticipated delivery in July doesn’t give a high level of confidence as sometimes those estimates have slipped in the past. There could be several reasons, such as extensive beta testing for quality control, for it to slip which could even be that some unpublished features may be in the process of being tweaked to improve performance or even some new features added that have not been previously announced. So it’s possible any delay can ultimately be good news.

Certainly with you that a delay could equal good news, although from what I'm hearing/seeing it really seems like pre-orders, at least from B&H, will start shipping beginning of June. Now if this actually is true or while happen, who knows...

And thanks for commenting on the card. Like I've said before, I just couldn't pass up that deal, although seeing people talk about Lexar's spotty reliability in the past does make me a little nervous

But I suppose it will just be a wish and a prayer that they work and are a reliable/sound investment

Considering that the URSA Cine 12K does higher frame rates, if the card is approved for the UC12K then it should also work on the PYXIS 12K.

I agree. But the Lexar CFexpress 4.0 cards in question are not approved for the Cine 12K, just the CFexpress 2.0 cards.
