Ursa Mini G2 4.6k Battery Power Issue

PostWed Jun 11, 2025 12:57 pm

Hi there,

I'm looking for some help. I have a URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 that I don't use very often. I recently tried to power it on with a fully charged battery, but nothing happened.

Fortunately, the camera works when plugged into mains power, so it’s not completely dead. However, I’ve tried three different batteries (all of which work fine with lights), and none seem to power the camera.

The camera also has a Blackmagic SSD recorder attached, but that’s not functioning either. I removed the SSD recorder and connected the V-mount battery directly to the camera, but still no luck.

I even ordered a new V-mount plate (originally from Blackmagic Design) and tested it both with and without the SSD recorder—same result: no power from the battery.

Has anyone experienced this issue before or have any ideas on what the problem could be? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Sorry that's happening...must be pretty frustrating. I haven't had that specific issue before on that G2's that we have.

Sorry if you've already tested these suggestions. Do the Dtap ports on any of the battery plates work? If they do, then it could be an issue in that Molex to camera pathway or something in that signal chain.

Is there a fuse on your battery plate? Maybe it needs to be replaced?

Thanks for the suggestions, I've not tested the Dtap ports. I was looking to see if there was a way to bypass the plate and connect the Dtap directly into the camera but that is a no, as far as I could see.

The new plate I tried does have a fuse it is okay, the older plate does not. And the batteries (3) all work on external lights, as well as previously having used them on the camera.

To get it up and running you should be able to use dtap to 4pin xlr.

Good Luck
