hello, I'm looking for some feedback about the compatibility of BMCC with three lenses zeiss super speed CP.2 EF mount (35mm, 50mm, 85mm T1.5), recently put on the market.

Someone (even the staff of BM) has tried the combination?
What do you think?
benefits / problems?

thanks

I believe that John Brawley, who helped in the development of the BMC, uses those and likes them. He will problem confirm that when he reads your post.

Personally if I spent 12 grand on 3 lenses my wife would murder me.

David, David, David, you know the rule...we dont talk pricess with our significant other.
Just as well, they dont seem to explain why they need a dozen purses, 18 pairs of boots and 54 pairs of dress shoes.
I do however like the explanation of the single teddy but thats besides the point ;)

Back on track, yes JB loves using the CP.2s with the BMCC.

I hope someday I can afford one :)

HA!!!! A couple weeks ago I bought the canon 70-200L 2.8. It's currently in a metal box in my attic. I know it will stay secret because my attic also houses a raccoon the size of a pitbull.

Raccoons are my wife's kryptonite!

I think the new superspeeds are a great match for the BMCC.

I've been using mine in PL mount with the m4/3 version of the camera. They work really nicely and I especially love using the 50mm wide open for "subjective" style shooting.

I also have the other regualr CPs and the 50mm Macro and the extra stop does help for low light and of course shallow dof if that's what you want.

I do thing they should have really gone to 1.3 to really be truly earning of the *superspeed* name....but 1.5 is till pretty sweet.

So there is no reason to believe that the zeiss lenses (CP2superspeed) EF mount have problems on BMCC (EF version). right?

I'm really curious to see them working with the BMCC + DAVINCI (if they arrived ;) )
thank you very much for your answer

They work great. I've used then in EF mount and as I said, currently in PL mount.

The CP.2 Super Speed are really good lenses but you have to take care which camera you are using. As I shot my CP.2s with my Epic everything was perfect but as I were using them with my FS700 the were beaten by a 250€ Sony Photo lens! Here you can a have look at it:

Of course a bit sharpening and color correction and they are fine.

Anyway, on the Epic the CP.2 are just awesome and especially for RAW/LOG - so they should be for the BMCC!

I've ordered a CC EF as it was first written something about it but as the MFT was announced I changed immediately. Like John I got the PL-Versions of the CP.2s too and I was wondering if I should change the mount or just go with an adapter. I think a MTF Adapter would be working fine - as far as I know you are doing the same and it's working great, am I right John?

Btw, can't wait to finally receive my BMCC - and in matter of PL thinking, I really hope the MFT mount stays manual ;)

I'm using the Hot Rod PL adaptor.

To be totally honest, I first tried a MTF adapter and it didn't actually work at all. I had to return it to the vendor.

In the pictures about the CP.2 and the SEL lenses I was using a MTF Adapter attached to the FS700 and I had some problems too. It was not too bad but it was a bit wobbling especially when I was changing the directions of the follow focus. I really can't explain why the CP.2s didn't work so well with the FS700 - probably it was cause of the MTF Adapter...?

Well I found the MTF to be very poor.

The Hot Rod isn't cheap, but it the biz. Lenses are precision instruments and you don't want to fart-arsing around with a cheap adaptor on your $5000 lens !

You shouldn't be getting wobble on focus direction changes.

I noticed on Twitter just the other day when they tweeted me the German agent for HotRod seems to be a company called Gecko Cam GMBH ?

Well rumor said nobody had one, but if anyone had one it makes sense it was you 8-)
And I know you will test it thoroughly,
and I'm sure it will be a better Camera/Mount for the rest of us,

Thanks John
