So now that Blackmagic has updated the HdS2 (Hyperdeck Shuttle 2) for ProRes, others have mentioned using it along side a BMCC to record ProRes proxies. This seems like a very inexpensive good idea to me. There needs to be work done on the BMCC firmware yet to allow this since there is not timecode coming out the SDI, but I'm sure that's within Blackmagic abilities. Anyway this idea got me thinking, since the HdS2 only costs around $330, you would think adding a second SSD recording bay to a future BMCC wouldn't be out of the question or even that expensive. Each drive could be have different codec, bitrates, and resolutions assigned to them. You could record full res RAW on one and a lesser quality 1080 proxy on the other, mirror ProRes on both for redundant recording, or turn off mirroring and simply use each bay as a way to continuously recording forever (as long as you have enough SSD's). I think this should be a must have feature in the next BMCC.
