BMCC Pros & Cons [SHARE]

PostSat Dec 08, 2012 4:33 pm

Dear All,

My name is Rudy from Indonesia. I've been reading many review about bmcc since 2 month a go. I'm trying to compare the pros n cons about this camera. I just need more information about this product to convince myself that this camera will truly good in the market. I have several question about BMCC and i'd like to hear from this forum. My questions are :

1. Is there any possibility in the future that bmcc will improve the frame rate to 60fps? So i can shoot with the right frame rate for my slow motion video.
2. How to deal with the unremoveable battery and other issues of bmcc
3. Where can i buy the support system for bmcc with the most affordable price

So that's it. I hope you guys could help. Thanks so much.

Regards
Rudy

Rudy,

These are all good questions. And, they have good answers that you should have no trouble finding in a simple search of this forum as they have all been asked and answered numerous times before. You might even search another forum that many here use (some words in the name of that forum are com, user, and bmc in some combination).

I'll sum up the answers as I've learned them from reading through this forum myself. I encourage you to get the details by doing the same.

1. No.
2. Inexpesive external power supply available from third party vendors. See your favorite retailer's website. My personal favorite is made by ikan, but I have not used it (since I don't have a BMCC, yet).
3. The most affordable support system is none. You don't technically need one. The most affordable depends on its use. Without knowing what use you intend, it is doubtful that the replies will be very helpful.

Hi Jason,

Thank you so much for the fast response. Alright, i'v seen the point. I really wish that bmcc will improve the frame rate through future firmware. I just don't want to hang my bmcc when i need to shoot slomo video.

I think you helped me out but still looking for the details just like you said :)
Thanks Jason

+1 to what Jason replied and to add:

In my opinion, everything's a compromise at this price point. I go into a purchase with what the specs are and not what I hope it'll be. I'm happy with my purchase, knowing full well, what's their limitations are. Yes, out of the box, the BMCC will work, but with a rig, and battery source, it just makes it "better". Is it necessary? Not really....work with what you know and not with what you hope it'll be..

Yup! Pretty much. Don't get me wrong, I do like shooting with it, but it just takes a bit more practice and thought before I hit the rec button!
