IM just trying to figure out which one of these to get. I kow having mostly nikon glass I'll never get all the features out of this camera but is it worth waiting. Anyone else in the same situation?

I have my name in but can tell them to pass over me for the MFT if that is the better choice?

If you're going to use mainly Nikon lenses, I'd get the EF mount version and a high quality Nikon to EF adapter.

I don't think either matters since Nikon to EF mount adapters are readily available. If you ever want to use proper PL lenses, then you need the M43 version since it's much more adaptable. I intend to get that version for the very same reason.

Also, I don't ever, ever, ever use auto anything on my lenses for video work. Focus and aperture pulling has always been manual. And if you are using full manual Nikon glass then you should have no worries.

The problem with adapting Nikon lenses to MFT is that the adapter will be massive. On the EF mount version, the adapter will be fairly thin, since Nikon's flange distance is closer to Canon's. You can see the difference of MFT and EF flange distances on the camera, in the length of the black "tube" that's housing the sensor. The "tube" on the EF version of the camera is much longer => shorter Nikon adapter (basically more like an adapter ring). This may be more solid than a shorter "tube" and massive adapter on the MFT version, especially for thick and heavy lenses.

Thanks for the great replies. I do mainly have Nikon and Fuji lenses right now, a few zeiss ZF2. lenses. I was thinking I would get the sigma 8-16 which is still F mount. The only lenses I can think of wanting for M4/3 is Voitlander 18mm F0.95 and others like it.

I understand the flange distance and how lenses can easily adapt to either EF or M43. Not really looking for anything too auto just cpu contacts with info going to the camera, I have lots of G lenses i'll have to get an adapter to mount and change the aperture.

I hear zeiss is making some fuji mount lenses as well next year, so many lens choices but I want the BMCC now. Probably just going to get the EF mount. Is there anything like those F0.95 voitlander lenses available for it?

Why is having a large adapter worse than a small one? Both extrude from chassis the same amount, the BMCC chassis is the same, its just the mount on it differs.

It's more of an issue when shooting handheld. The EF adapters are basically just thin metal adapter rings, so the connection should be rock solid, and you will end up "holding" the Nikon lens as if it were a Canon. The problem with the MFT adapters being so long is that they impact on the way you hold your Nikon lens because most adapters are only about as wide in diameter as the MFT mount. This means that in most cases, the adapter is less wide in diameter than the lens that's mounted onto it, which not only makes it terrible to hold, but also puts strain on the adapter and lens mount, especially if you're using a heavy lens on it.

This picture of an MFT to M42 mount adapter illustrates what I mean. It's not a great experience to use and it's not even a large or heavy lens, but like I said, it's more of an issue when shooting handheld rather than on a rig with follow focus.

The only adapter I have is an OM adapter and it's as wide as the lens and rock solid, I guess the answer would be then buy the MFT camera and invest in a decent adapter.

I have both adapters for micro4/3 and vor Canon.
And the weight will not be a problem.
Stability is also good with the micro4/3

I ordered the EF version because I have EF lenses too.
