Ultrascope not working after update

PostTue Oct 06, 2015 10:36 pm

I updated my camera setup utility and this installed a new version of Ultrascope and updated my BMCC 2.5K to 2.1 firmware.

When I connect the Thunderbolt and launch Ultrascope I get an error - "Startup failed - UltraScope could not configure the capture hardware" - before the update this worked fine.

I have uninstalled and re-installed everything to no avail, HELP! please,

Stephen

Same here. I haven't been able to get Ultrascope to work with my BMCC for the last few updates.

It's an Asus laptop running Windows 10. Blackmagic Media Express can capture video from my BMCC over thunderbolt, but Ultrascope won't even launch.

Download the latest Ultrascope 1.8.2 Update from the BMD support page and run the installer.
This will install over the previously bundled Ultrascope software.

Nope. Now Ultrascope doesn't launch at all. I looked into it and the Ultrascope version that come in the Camera Ulility package is a bit difference to run with the camera.

Media Express runs just fine and I can see and capture from my BMCC over Thunderbolt on my Asus Laptop running Win10. Ultrascope will still fail to launch saying:

"Could not connect to Ultrascope capture device drive. Please check the device and driver are correctly installed."

I had a similar problem. Turns out that Ultrascope only works for me when it's on the desktop and not in the application folder, like it should be. Otherwise it won't launch. On Mac of course. It doesn't make any sense at all but that's the way it is for me.

The windows installer doesn't allow me to choose where I install the programs and simply dragging the program from its installed location to the desktop still results with the same error message.

I am not a software engineer, however I have noticed that Blackmagic_Camera_Setup_Windows_2.7, 2.8, and 2.8.1 generates the error: Could not connect to ultra scope capture device driver. Please check the device and driver are correctly installed. In order to regain use of ultrascope, I deleted all blackmagic related software minus Da Vinci from my system, installing Blackmagic_Camera_Setup_Windows_2.6. I later tried ultra scope 1.8.2, that worked fine as well. I consider this a workaround as I imagine I am no longer able to use ATEM software simultaneously, as it's install would also change camera drivers. I opened a ticket, I guess black magic is working on this issue. I have presented you my work around, enjoy.

Hi

I have the same problem just now, I update the OS to W10 pro 21H2 (w 10.0.1944) and my Ultrascope app don't work. try with the Ultrascope 1.8.4 (the most recent version), but don't solve the issue.

Please, I hope for your help
