I'm very curious as to what wired/wireless remote follow focus you used?
I think I see it in image "49" of 179, Also what EFV you are using?
and how did both the FF and EVF perform for you on the shoot?
I see a RedRock Rig (you are forgiven) with a shape cage and that's fine, but what battery solution?
Hey Darryl, glad you like the BTS pics!
We used the Bartech Wireless follow focus, it was defiantly a must have!
We were using a Cineroid EVF, everyone loved that little beast, it outperformed even my own expectations.
Both units worked great, the EVF only needed 3 battery changes (13 hours) which was fine as it was on 98% of the time, I used a Bebob battery solution with their COCO15v ll distributer, worked like a charm!

I liked the page I love chess so I'm very interested to see this short. Great photos by the way look like it was a blast to shoot. How long did that Bebob V95 hold up? Looks to be a good battery solution for long shoot times.
edit: Also how many SSDs and what brand did you have on hand thanks again for the pics and insight.
I used ONE bebob v95 for the 13hours of shoot, yes only one! The Blackmagic camera does not draw a lot of power, which is great for longer shoots. We used a Samsung 512gb SSD and a Kingston 240gb SSD, I only swapped them once to download the footage to check how we where doing.
Trevor Roach wrote:Wow! looks like that was a lot of fun to be working on! How'd the BMCC preform on set? Any issues?
The blackmagic cinema camera performed well, it defiantly was beyond out expectations. There was a bit of rain and 22 mph winds so we defiantly wind-tested the little beast, it was great and our DOP had a few comments regarding the camera (paraphrasing);
- No 2.35:1 markers
- Fstop?
- Crop Factor (ofcourse)
- Screen way to reflective
Peter J. DeCrescenzo wrote:I noticed on one of the photos the BMCC LCD said "ProRes". Are you shooting your film in ProRes?
Yes we shot ProRes as we did not test the camera with its raw capabilities under the situations we where in, therefore was a big gamble so we went on the safe side and shot ProRes (Which looks really good I must say).
eddietor wrote:Looking forward to it. How did you handle the workflow out in the field? Using PC or Mac Laptops and transcoding footage?
Workflow was easy, we hardly changed the SSD (Samsung 512SSD), I used a MacBook Pro (2009) to DIT the footage, which was easy over firewire (28gigs in 10 minutes).
thanks again guys for the input, I wish to share more details this week! Like the page to get frequent updates!
Cheers,
