DV/pro battery solution

PostThu Jan 17, 2013 6:24 pm

Hi, I'm looking at some battery solutions for a BMC, I will be renting for 2 weeks. I will be traveling south of the border away from main cities. Conditions and subjects will change.
The first option i was looking at is from ikan. it's for DV batteries and it mounts on top of the camera and it fits my old camcorder batteries roughly 45.00 usd @ B&h or the Pro batt solution for Sony V or Gold mount. It mounts on rails and has a quick release for around 145.

What would you get? any thoughts?

The cheapest solution would be to see what you have already, then modify it to what you need. If you have Sony batts, then get something like this:
http://www.hawkwoods.com/products/detai ... si2=DV-MC4.
If you already have v-locks/Anton Bauers then get the rails and battery plates like this:
http://ikancorp.com/productdetail.php?id=578

There are pros and cons to both (duration, size, weight) , but it all depends on what you have readily available. I went with the v-lock battery solution, only because I had v-lock charger/battery already.

Good-luck!

Thank you Fletcher, Very good point. Both options have some rather interesting pros and cons. Th MDV option looks good, but I couldn't find the price on that link. however, I did check ikan's website and i was quite surprised at how many different battery configurations they have: http://ikancorp.com/productsearch.php?k=bmc :D

Christine, thanks im still a noob in this forums
