Thank you, I think they are very good and durable but they are too expensive ! I look for the Case Logic SLRC-206 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/6 ... kpack.html
but I don't like the camera holder inside the bag ! I would like to carry my kit (rails, base plate, folow focus) without disassemble it ! I would like a bag without loss of space ! I dont need space to carry flashes or things like that ! just my lenses, my rig and my camera ! And without breaking my bank !

you get what you pay for. i would't carry around a $3000 camera plus accessories in a caselogic bag they are more less just containers not so much protection you can find a midpoint if you look on amazon im sure

Protect your investment if you carry the camera with out rails and such a smaller bag or csae would prolly work fine

I think I will go with the pelican 1400 ! It's not very portable but It's strong, safe and cheaper! Good value for money and nothing prevents me to carry this case in a old school bagpack ! Thank you very much for your help !

Hi,

I'm using the Thinktank Airport Take off. It's a backpack and a roller all in one. I have a plenty of room for the BMCC and Wooden camera Kit w/o rails attached. Along with lenses, matte box, filters, other accessories and a laptop fits in the front compartment.

Good-luck!

Pelican 1500 is not that much more $$$, and you can fit a couple lenses and an LCD in the case with your BMCC. It's airplane friendly and they are very, very strong. Had mine for 8 years now. Been dropped, kicked and used as a step stool more than once. I couldn't live without it!

Without a doubt - the brilliantly designed and reasonably priced Lowepro flipside 500. Got mine for £110 shipped.

Do it now, thank me later :)

Lowerpro makes very good bags but I think I will go for the security, built quality and value for money of pelican ! the Bagpacks are very portable but, I can put my case in a old bagpack and that's it ! the problem is solved !

This is the Bag I run. For me its the best solution

http://goincase.com/products/detail/dsl ... 58059#img3

But most of the time my gear resides in these 2

Pelican 1650
http://www.amazon.com/Pelican-1650-Case ... lican+1650

And Pelican 1510
http://www.amazon.com/Pelican-1510-Case ... lican+1510

If you want the Pelican 1510, shop around.
For some weird reason that particular model can go as high as 400 without fitted mold down to 175 USD.
I got lucky and got one at 225 with fit perfect molding.

I have 2 of the B&W Type90 Outdoor cases and love them to death.

Image

The price is much better than Pelican, but same build quality and all the extra features on top of it.
http://www.b-w-international.com/index. ... 75&lang=en

Only downside is, they are not cabin luggage size.

I got me a tactical backpack, when I have to take camera and glass on board.

I envy your gear list Frank, but there are deals to be had on 1650 pelican cases,
most notably are the new Lighter cases that are 5 pounds less than there predecessors and on sale.
I have two 1650 (lighter versions) cases that are worth every penny,
but may not be best for travel or light load transport in remote situations.
Thanks for your gear advice, as it will work as a lighter and more outdoor trail blazing solution.

cheers

I'm totally with you Darryl, I'm a die hard hardcase fanboy - usually I have everything and the kitchen sink in hard cases (not Peli, but almost the same for a much better price). I only have to use the tactical backpack on planes, because of size restrictions.

Wow! I love the tactical backpack, just curious where did you get the body and the guts from? I would love to use this same set up. If anyone knows of a good light weight back pack that can fit the camera body, several lenses (one telephoto, then some primes), plus some memory, extra power, then some snacks and couple of bottles of water feel free to share. I plan on doing some hiking out in the Smokey Mountains while the weather is in the transition of getting that great hanging fog.

Don't think a 1400 case will be big enough. I use one just to carry lenses (6 contax yashica primes) and it is a tight fit.

Sorry for the late reply, I was shooting in Canada for several weeks.

Yes the tactical pack is a Hazard4 Switchback with 2 Jelly-Rolls and an additional pouch attached.
The guts are a universal divider inset from Calumet. I made a frame from plastic that is moldable with a shop heat gun, for more stability.

Worked like a charm on that Canada trip.

Here is the address for the B&H case: http://www.b-w-international.com/index. ... 75&lang=en

I got mine from Ebay though.

I just bought the TENBA Roadie II shoulder bag for $279.95 and it is nothing short of spectacular!

It houses my fully assembled BMCC on an Ikan BMCC mount and rails with a Redrock top plate, generic E-bay top handle, Trusmt follow focus and Genus matte box with a Nikon 28mm ais lens mounted and ready to shoot (Any short lens could be left on the rig and sill fit in the bag). I used all of the included velcro foam divider panels to create a custom fit for the BMCC, 5 additional lenses, a Canon 60D body, batteries, headphones, mic shock mount, and a large Giottos blower.

The outer pockets hold French flags, a few 4X5.65 filters (still need to get), external sound recorder, shotgun mic, cables, wind muff and (hopefully soon) a 7" external monitor and mounting arm.

If your gear never leaves your side when traveling (unless locked away) then I feel a soft, well padded bag like this is best. If you have to ship your stuff or others are carrying your bags, then a hard case is best.

Joaquin,

Here is a link to the $20 top handle: http://www.ebay.com/itm/270928936923?ru ... 26_rdc%3D1
Unless you go with their cage, (which I did not) you will only be able to use just one hole and bolt out of the two holes available on this handle (which matches their cage). I was at first, very uneasy about the thought of using just one bolt on the top handle, but after looking up the tensile strength of 1/4 20 bolts, I was assured that a single bolt, even of lower grade metal (which I doubt the supplied one is), can hold quite a lot of weight before snapping (hundreds of pounds). But just to play it safe, I bought a high grade stainless steel bolt that I'm sure will do it's job just fine.

You could mount this handle directly to the top of the BMCC, but I opted to use this handle with the $55 (shipped) top plate made by Redrock Micro: http://store.redrockmicro.com/Catalog/f ... ema-camera This way I added more stability and security (especially with using one bolt) and I added many more mounting holes for other accessories, like a field monitor. This was a around a $75 total solution. For $100 you can get a dedicated Ikan handle that uses two mounting holes, but then you have NO holes left for any other accessories. Or you can get Redrock's BMCC handle and plate bundle for $165 (shipped) http://store.redrockmicro.com/Catalog/Y ... blackmagic . I decided to save the $95 since I mainly plan on using the handle to lift the camera out of the bag and place it on a tripod 90% of the time. Although, it does feel very solid and secure and using it for low hanging shots I'm sure will be fine too.

I also found that using one bolt on a multi hole cheeseplate had it's advantage in that it allowed me to place the handle slightly off center, in the direction of my follow focus. This balanced the camera perfectly! If you mount an immovable handle in the top center of the camera and use a follow focus, the camera WILL NOT hang level. The top handle MUST have a means of shifting to the heavier side of your rig or the camera cannot hang level from the handle.

A hard case is heavier, has better protection from impacts and watertight and better for transporting your gear if you have to ship it or someone else handles it.
Pros: Better protection, foam insert can be custom "plucked" to fit your gear.
Cons: Heavier, not quite as "on the run" portable as a soft case and usually costs more money. Once the foam is customized, it cannot be re-designed.

A soft case is much lighter and easier to carry on the shoulder.
Pros: Lighter, more portable and easier to carry with a shoulder strap. Usually comes pre-made with lots of useful pockets and velcro dividers that can be customized over and over.
Cons: Less protection from impacts and not suitable as an unattended shipping case.

I went with the Tenba Rodie II soft case because my gear never leaves my side and it's way customizable.

I've got a Pelican case, and the main reason I got that was because I quite often have to check my camera case in on aircraft, can't take it as carry on.

If I didn't need to transport my gear interstate so often I'd be going with a backpack.
