Adorama BMCC PreOrder status

PostSat Jan 26, 2013 10:31 am

Greetings all my fellow BMCC pre-order groupies :?
This thread is for dates placed / received with Adorama

My order date was November 14th 2012
Since my order I have Received 2 emails from Adorama,
both just informing me my Camera is still on backorder and they are at the mercy of the Manufacturer.

Please reply with your Adorama order/experience and received date with Adorama for the BMCC.

Cheers

If any one is wondering why I would order from Adorama over B&H???
Adorama had a bundle with Switronix that totaled $3095.00 US making it a great deal for me,
But now I wonder if it was a mistake, since Adorama my have been late placing their orders for the camera from the get go.

Ordered on the 19th of April I called them during NAB and they hadn't had a SKU number yet but took my info. I received my BMCC around the 18th of November. I must have been one or two on the pre order list because the week before they announced they got their demo unit. They called my U.S number asking if I still wanted the camera of course I said hell no! Then I changed my mind a 1/2 second later  . (I'm kidding but they did call me because I have a debt card and had to call my bank to to raise the charge limit) no problems with the camera works like a charm. Will be taking it back to Japan this Wednesday. Adorama also got me my 5D Mark II pretty quick when it first came out when there was a waiting list. Didn't get in on any of the bundles they are now offering. So experience with them has been pretty good.

Ordered two, one 8/28 and 11/19. Tons of backorder emails and they sent the SSD/Grips shipment months ago. They did ship a 256 Crucial M4 as the SSD in the bundle. I called to let them know that it wasn't on BMDs support list Thursday and they are talking to management and getting back to me about a replacement. Yet to hear.

A note from the Adorama Camera Purchasing Manager:

All of our orders were placed at the NAB show right after the announcement; if any of our competitors had them in stock and we did not, we would be concerned; but we have so far already shipped out over 30 cameras, which is far more than our closest competitors have been able to ship.

The delay is caused by the manufacturer, and unfortunately there is not much we can do about it.

At present, we are still awaiting an ETA of the next delivery.

Hello All,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I ordered my BMCC from Adorama the first time on 4/29/2012 (EF) and changed my order to the MFT on 9/12/2012.

I have received 7 backorder emails since then, which includes one this morning at 7:25am.

Great Forum, and thanks to everyone for all the great footage posts, it keeps me yearning for the real deal.

Thanks,
Joe

I placed my order on April 19th and I just got my camera a few weeks ago because they screwed up and lost my place in line, costing me potentially hundreds of dollars in rental costs I incurred, and rental fees I did not receive. They finally made it right after I hit up total strangers, including, I think, Learvis, to get their order numbers and prove that I was skipped. They threw in some gear and free shipping and somehow got me a camera (I think it might have been their floor model) in a couple of days.

I should have ordered over the summer I hate pre-ordering because of delays but now that they are rolling out I'm jealous everyone is getting their cameras from april-may preorders. I doubt we see the MFT version anytime before the fall honestly.

Congrats on getting your camera, but I'm seriously unimpressed that mine has not shipped when I ordered in September :\

Actually I was wrong about my order date, it was actually December 14th, a total of 52 days from order to ship date.

congrats. It's very nice to see cameras shipping to people who ordered later last year. at the same time it's a little concerning to see people e.g. in europe still waiting while having ordered very soon after the release.

in some cases on the day it was announced.

BMD's silence on the matter is quite frustrating and is harming my impression of them as a company.....if that even matters....

Checked with our Black magic Purchasing Manager, who told me: This is impossible since all orders placed up to the end of November already shipped, unless you ordered the MFT which hasn’t been shipped yet at all by anybody WORLD WIDE !

He's kidding you Helen. Tom is jealous because he ordered from another company in April and is still waiting while you guys have caught up to your november orders already.

He could think about hedging his bets and maybe place an order with us, as well? And if the other company comes up trumps first, if he emails me I can cancel his Adorama order.

I'm more annoyed than jealous - annoyed that apparently all the UK resellers (and from the looks of it some other European resellers too) are being drip fed 1-2 units a week if they are lucky - and yet 2 USA stores are seemingly storming through their entire pre-order queue. Annoyed at BMD, not anyone lucky enough to get their camera, not any resellers.

I ordered on January 3rd 2013 from adorama and I got a notice saying that my switronix battery pack from the bundle has shipped. (originally they said they would hold all items until everything was in) The camera has changed from backordered to pending so maybe that is good news. I know I'm lucky. I feel for you guys that have been waiting 10 months and nothing.

Thanks a lot Helen!

Do you have a rough guide as to how long it takes to ship from you to the UK? (once its in stock of course)

(also for future reference for other people, according to the HMRC website, importing a camera falls under the following:

The commodity code for importing is 9007910000.

Importing from outside the EU is subject to a third country duty of 3.70 %.

Goods are subject to VAT standard rate. )
