I was just wondering how many stops can you get back with the black magic camera. I was shooting in bright sunlight 2 days ago and could not see the monitor at all on a couple of shots. going from sun to no sun. A few shot were very blown out but when I got back and color corrected the information was there. So the question is how many stops over and under can you be before there is no information?

If you turn on Zebras, the camera will tell you when there is too much light. Overexposing in RAW gets some impressive results after adjustments in post. From what I have experienced so far, it's best not to underexpose the image, but if you do, don't go crazy. You won't get good results.

It's interesting with the BMCC because now it seems saying overexposed is incorrect, it's either clipping or not. 'Underexposing' still seems to apply though (with some not so great consequences from what's been posted).
