That's good to know and most people are buying the x3400 cards from eBay. My 4.6k is arriving tomorrow and I haven't know which media to invest in. I think I'm going ahead with the x3400 and ordering a pair tonight.

Which size of you have Note?

I guess the main question I have is, has anyone had problems with any of the cards officially tested and listed on the BMD list?

128gb.

Up to this point, a bit over 3tb. Almost all raw (90% I'm guessing).

To all who have purchased the Lexar cards from China. How long did they take to arrive at your door? It's saying anywhere between April 22 and June 2. That's a huge range.

I've placed several "best offers" to Chinese ebay stores but none are accepting bids anywhere near prices listed on the forum. Have tried Greenshopping2011, MemoryBay2000, etc. but lowest they're going is between 120 and 140 for the Lexar 3400x 128gb card. Anyone still getting a sub-100 price? Thanks

Mine took less than a week with my first order. About a week and a half the second time I ordered.

Took about one and a half week both times.. and they came straight from the UK not china so I guess they have some kind of "european warehouse" by now *cough* ;)

I found the 128 and 256 Lexars cheaper on Amazon sold directly from Lexar. Went that route instead. They estimate 5-8 days arrival.

I use LEXAR 256GB x3600 on my UM46K EF, and it´s working great all the way up to 25fps RAW uncompressed in singel card mode. No drop frames.

Do you have a link to provide? I'm looking on Amazon and the 256GB x3400 Lexar cards I find there are all nearly twice the price of the same cards offered from China on Ebay.

Can anybody tell me. Recording on transcend 256GB in single Mode (RAW 1:4) is only possible with frame drops.

With the Lexar 3400 256GB is it possible? Or is RAW only in Dual Mode possible.

Thanks.

CFast cards for 4.6 URSA/MINI

PostFri Apr 15, 2016 5:26 pm

Benjamin, I'm assuming you mean these cards:
Transcend TS256GCFX650
256GB 3400x CFast 2.0 CFX650 Memory Card - 510MB/s Read, 370MB/s Write

Those Transcend cards should be fast enough to record raw 3:1 (about 360MB/s) and raw 4:1 (about 270MB/s) on a single card at 60 fps open gate.

Based on earlier comments from CaptainHook, the Transcend cards are the best choice for ProRes and the Lexar cards are the best choice for raw.

The 3400x Lexar's are also rated at 370MB/s so they should perform raw 3:1 and raw 4:1 on a single card. The Lexar 3500x/3600x cards are rated for 445MB/s but only the 3500x is on the approved list at this time. You'll need the Lexar 3500x to record lossless compressed raw in dual card mode. Each card will be writing about 415MB/s so that's the only card so far approved that should handle the 'uncompressed' raw at 60 fps.

Thanks for the clear and detailed info Rick!

I really don't understand why BMD themselves would not simply provide similar info in one easy to find place (the manual would be the obvious one) so we could all make properly informed media purchase decisions without having to go casting about for answers.

I think BMD created a great forum for people to gather and answer each other's questions so that's a major plus. I think they may add additional details later, perhaps in the next update if they have finished testing the latest CFast 2 cards. A neverending story.

I still don't understand why there's no official list of Cfast cards that can record 4.6K?

Hello everyone,

I want to shoot 4.6k raw @24fps. I'm curious what cfast 2.0 cards people have had success using.

Also, I see a lot of people post about shooting 4.6k raw @60fps. Why would you want to shoot at 60fps.

Thanks!

The list of certified CFast cards for URSA Mini is here: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/au/support/faq/59015

If you are wanting to shoot lossless RAW then any of the cards on the list certified for 2160p RAW 30p will be okay at 4.6K RAW 24p. Compressed RAW 3:1 or 4:1 you should be able to hit 60p to a single card on that list no problems for slow motion.

All of the cards we have certified have been tested extensively in URSA Mini and URSA Mini Pro for recording those formats, playback, card formatting and general performance.
