Copy SSD contents using USB on PC?

Since the SSDs currently have to be formatted in a MAC specific format, is there a way to copy the contents of the drive to using USB on a PC? I'm assuming that some SATA->USB adapters likely exist. My bigger concern is the file system. When I'm at home I can just plug in via SATA. However when travelling I will only have USB available.

You really need USB 3 at least. I have a cheap ASrock Mainboard with a very unstable eSATA port therefore I´m using USB3 which gives me about 120 MB/sec. So it takes 35 min. to download an SSD.
You can use Macdrive for it on a PC but I hope the Exfat update comes soon.
I have this to download SSD:

Unfortunately my laptop only has USB 2. This isn't a huge problem as I would be copying the drive(s) overnight after a day of shooting.

We use a lot of these for moving files off SSDs.
http://www.amazon.com/Apricorn-Notebook ... ricorn+usbIf you're using the camera on the v1.1 software, then you ca nonly record to a HFS+ volume which will not be readable on the PC without a thrid party software like MacDrive. However, the imminent v1.2 update will allow recording on exFAT drives which will be recognized natively on your PC.

It's not ideal, but it will work fine. You could just get a cheap USB 2.0 / S-ATA external enclosure for the time being.

I am having trouble getting my PC to recognize a newertech voyager q SSD dock. the SSD is a crucial 256 M4.
It's formatted to exFAT, files playback fine on the camera. As soon as I try it with the dock, I get no response between the dock and PC. I would assume my dock is fried somehow, but it was working perfect the day before. The first bit of footage I shot is when it became an issue as far as the PC not finding the dock. I've tried on a Mac, and 2 other Windows PC's. Any thoughts? Would shooting RAW create an issue like this?
Oh, I've also tried connecting the dock via usb 3.0, eSata, and firewire lol

You have tried a lot of options. Can you put it back in the BMCC and record anything for a few minutes and then play it back and test in your dock again? Just hoping that puts the SSD in some state that your PC will see it. Have you tried another SSD that has not been used in the BMCC that you formatted as exFAT?

I will try that next. I'm on the "crucial" forums seeing what other options I may have.
I will get back with you and let you know what happens.
I don't have another SSD, but I'm going to have one shipped overnight. I received my BMCC yesterday and all I've pretty much been able to do is stare at it.
I let out one other detail, the first bit of footage a shot, some how went missing after fooling around trying to get it to dump via the dock. That was kind of odd in itself.

Thanks. That first shot gone missing does suggest either you may have a corrupted file on the SSD or a bad directory. In any case, I'm hoping the SSD will manage to right itself but at this point it feels like it is the culprit. Not sure though. Good luck!
