BMPCC OIS stopped working with my H-FS12032 panasonic lens

PostSun Apr 03, 2016 10:59 am

Hi everybody.

OIS stopped working on my bmpcc and I can't find a way to solve it.
After some researches, I thought first about power but it's not that.
What I think is that the new firmware from panasonic (1.1) who provides dual I.S, messed with the ois on the bmpcc. (iris and focus are working)
Because the stabilisation works when I put the lens on my GM5.
But I can't downgrade to 1.0. on the lens.
I also saw some people downgrading fw on the bmpcc and for some it worked, but it's a bit frustrating to downgrade.

What else can i try ?

Thanks lot.

I downgraded to 2.0.1, and it works again.

Yes, but at least you only lost a few frame guides and menu by-pass convenience, no real camera functionality upgrades lost. Yet, another reason, I do not use still camera IS lenses, PITA most of the time :!:

Is the Lens IS maybe working when you actually record?

In order to save power the current firmware (I don't recall at which point they added this) only activates IS when recording and when you have the camera on external power (the camera needs to be plugged in while powering up).
Try to test it in both situations on latest firmware and see if the IS works.

Thank you for your answers.

Denny I use IS and this lens, when I have to be discreet and doing some "real life" shots.
It rests me from all the vintage lenses I work with.

Lennart, it wasn't working on record, Idid the test.
I read about it here and on bmcuser, but most of the talk was about the 12-35 /2.8, who has IS on/off button.

Harold, I understand. I use Zeiss Super Speeds and Veydras, along with my Zeiss ZF lenses on a speed booster -- anything but inconspicuous :!: so for similar situations to yours, I use the Panny Zeiss 15mm and 45mm (which has IS) lenses, which are also small and discreet, but provide excellent IQ.
Hopefully a future update will sort out the IS issues with some lenses.
Cheers
