Ref In? And Tint adjust? UM46

PostFri Apr 08, 2016 5:07 am

I'm wondering what the REF IN, would be used for?

Also, I have BMPC4K and wanting to upgrade to UM46 - did Blackmagic ever add Tint adjustment to the menus? Or is this that possibly an upcoming thing?

REF IN is for genlock/sync signals - basically it's to keep cameras in step with each other when switching in a live multi-camera environment.

I don't know about the REF IN.

There is no tint adjustment in camera on the UM46. I went from a BMPC4k to UM46 as well, and I've noticed my BMPC4k has more of a green tint and the UM46 has more of a redish tint. But any adjustments to the tint have to be done in post.

The Ref in accepts either an analog "black burst" or Tri-color genlock signal, as previously mentioned, to sync multiple cameras useually in a video switching situation, used in broadcasting or live event coverage.
